Your Brake Pads Are the Main Component in Stopping Your Vehicle

Your brakes are without a doubt one of the most important pieces of equipment on your vehicle. It could be argued that they could be the most important system on your car, truck, or SUV. That being said, many drivers still neglect them or do not even know how they work.

If you don't have a clear understanding of how your brakes work then it becomes much more difficult to monitor them and recognize wear and know when to have them serviced or replaced.

Your brake pads are what actually stop the vehicle. When you press on the brake pedal, the master cylinder pushes brake fluid through the system via the rubber hoses that go to your calipers. This causes your calipers to compress and squeeze your pads together on either side of the rotors. This action of your pads squeezing your rotor creates friction and slows your vehicle to a stop.

If you have any other questions about your brake pads or your braking system in general then call or visit the experts in our service center here at New South Ford in Meridian.
