Are you looking for a powerful new work truck to round out your fleet? Or maybe you're deciding whether the F-150 or Super Duty is right for your work-and-family pickup? Check out what Car and Driver has to say about the F-250 Super Duty, one of our most capable trucks.
What you'll love about it:
- Incredibly powerful engine options, including 925-pound-feet-torque Turbo Diesel
- Even the less-impressive gasoline engine, with 430 pound-feet of torque, brought the Super Duty from 0 to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds
- Powerful disc brakes brought truck from 70 mph to stop in 195 feet
- Aluminum body, fully-boxed frame, and improved suspension new to the 2017 model-year
- Ample add-on packages allow for advanced features, like keyless entry, engine-block heater, trailer-tow camera, SYNC 3 infotainment system
The downside:
- In Car and Driver's highway testing, it averaged only 15 mpg
- No touchscreen or backup camera with basic infotainment system
Clearly, the F-250 Super Duty is a truck meant first and foremost for working a job. It lags behind the more family-friendly F-150 in terms of personal use and comfort, but optional equipment can make it more modern.
